Tokyo Disneyland Bids Farewell to Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters

**Tokyo, Japan** – Tokyo Disneyland is set to bid farewell to its beloved Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters attraction, making way for an exciting new Wreck-It Ralph experience. The iconic ride will close its doors on October 31, 2024, marking the end of an era for Toy Story fans in the Japanese theme park.

Farewell Event and Special Offer

In honor of this special occasion, Tokyo Disneyland will host a farewell event titled “Astro Hero Time” from July 2 to September 18, 2024. During this event, guests will have the opportunity to achieve a higher score than ever before, as special targets will be added to the attraction. This makes it the perfect time to go for that elusive “Astro Hero” status with a score of over 999,999.

Additionally, Tokyo Disneyland will offer a limited edition popcorn bucket for the occasion. Available for purchase from September 19 to October 31, 2024, the special popcorn bucket will add some extra sweetness to your farewell memories. Guests will also receive commemorative stickers to cherish the moment.

Special Closures and Future Plans

July will see another major closure in Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland, as the park’s version of Space Mountain closes for a complete demolition. The iconic roller coaster will be replaced with a newer, bigger, and more advanced version named Space Mountain Earthrise.

Once Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters closes, work will commence on the new Wreck-It Ralph attraction. Scheduled to open in 2026, this exciting ride will transport guests into the racing game inhabited by Vanellope Von Schweetz and Sugar Rush.

Tokyo Disneyland’s IP Transformation

Tokyo Disneyland is embracing a more IP-driven approach, with several new experiences on the horizon. In winter 2025, the park will unveil its version of “it’s a small world” transformed into “it’s a small world with Groot.” This limited-time attraction will feature various Marvel Cinematic Universe characters incorporated into the iconic ride, all adorned with the charming Mary Blair aesthetic.

Remembering the Adventure

Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters has played a special role in Tokyo Disneyland’s history and will be fondly remembered by guests of all ages. The farewell event and special offerings will provide a fitting tribute to this beloved attraction, allowing visitors to create lasting memories before it embarks on its next adventure.
